Enacted in December 1997 and most recently revised in January 2015

1. Content and publication type
This journal accepts original papers of research articles, short communications, reviews, and case reports in the areas of emergency medical service.
2. Publication interval
It is published three times a year; in April, August and December.
The manuscript that does not keep the instruction to authors may be rejected before review.
3. Qualification as authors
  • a. All of authors of a submitted thesis should be a member of the Korean Society of Emergency Medical Services (KSEMS). If they are not members, they should apply to membership before submission.
    A submitter who wants to become a member may access to http://www.kemt.or.kr.

4. Preparation of manuscripts
Prepare manuscripts using MS Word, double spaced, on an A4 (210×297mm) page format. Do not leave extra space between paragraphs. Only a single font (e.g., Times New Roman) should be used in 12 point or over. Number all pages in sequence, including the Title page, Abstract, INTRODUCTION, METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, REFERENCES, followed by Tables and Figures. Headings should be in bold letters, and aligned in the center. Reference citations are in Vancouver style. Use [1], [2,3], [4-6], or [2,7-9] in the text, and they should be listed in the REFERENCES section in numerical orders.
REFERENCES
All references cited in the text must appear in the References section, and all itens in this section should be cited in the text. References should be listed in order of citation in the text. Citations of abstracts and works in submission are not permitted. Papers in press can be cited when a proof has been produced.
The number of references is limited to 30 for original articles.
All authors of a cited work should be listed if there are six or fewer authors. If there are more than six authors, they should be listed followed by "et al". If a reference has digital object identifier (DOI), it should supplied. Abbreviate journal names according to standard abbreviations of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and website below.

The sequence is authors, title of papers, journal name, year published, and volume followed by pages. Follow the style shown by the examples below. For citations from other sources, refer to“The NLM Guide for Authors, Editors, and Publishers. 2nd ed. Bethesda, Maryland, USA. 5. Research and publication ethics
  • a. The paper already published to other scientific journals or periodicals are not considered for publication. And also, the published paper to this journal should not be submitted to other scientific journals./li>
  • b. Authors who make actual and intellectual contribution to this thesis can be listed and authors should take responsibility for the contents of the thesis.
  • c. An author (authors) should comply with "Research and Publication Ethics of The Korean Society of Emergency Medical Services (KSEMS)" and pledge to take any responsibility for any disadvantage related to this thesis.
  • d. The publisher of this journal shall be entitled to interpose an objection against violation of intellectual right committed by others without any consent from an author (authors) and relevant academic association.
  • e. If there are any ethical issues from the manuscripts, it should be first reviewed by Editorial Board and Ethics Committee, and then the recommendations should be processed by the Society. If anyone does not agree or accept the decision by Society in the process of ethical issues, those may be referred to the Editorial Board of Korean Society of Emergency Medical Services and Ethics Committee of the corresponding institutes.
  • f. For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instructions, 'Good Publication Practice Guidelines for Medical Journals <http://kamje.or.kr/publishing_ethics.html>' or 'Guidelines on good publication <http://www.publicationethics.org.uk/guidelines>' or International standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/international-standards-editors-and-authors) or the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts) can be applied.
6. Peer review process
  • a. The editorial board shall decide whether a submitted copy of thesis would be reviewed through the primary review on the thesis.
  • b. A submitted copy of thesis that is determined to meet the purpose of this journal shall be reviewed by three requested experts, and at this time, the review shall be made anonymously.
  • c. The editorial board shall request authors to revise their thesis in accordance with the opinions of reviewers and the board. Authors should explain their opinions about the point raised in detail.
  • d. When authors are requested to revised their thesis after review, they should submit their revised thesis in the same way that they submitted at the beginning within 2 weeks.
  • e. The editorial board shall be entitled to demand or make an alteration of a copy of thesis including its system, use of its terminology, and its pages within the range that the board does not violate the copy's core contents before the copy is not published.
    The finally accepted manuscript will be reviewed by manuscript editor and layout editor for the consistency of the format and the completeness of references.
  • f. Unless a copy of thesis is submitted within a given period, it will be processed for the next number.
7. Fee for page charge
  • a. Review processing fee of Korean Won 50,000 should be paid when the manuscript is submitted.
  • b. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, in addition to the page charge of Korean Won 10,000 per page, publication processing fee of Korean Won 150,000 for copy editing, English proof-reading and editing etc. should be paid by the authors before printing.
  • c. When an organization supporting research funds shall be displayed, Korean Won 50,000 shall be paid additionally.

8. Submission of manuscript
Manuscript should be submitted to the following URL with cover page including brief CV of corresponding author, one original manuscript, checklist, and copyright transfer agreement (before printing) via email. Copyright transfer agreement should be signed by all co-authors and sent to E-mail with PDF file.

9. Role of the Editorial Board
The decision on the editing of the journal is made by the Editorial Board. The manuscript may be revised for the consistency of the editorial work as far as the content is not affected. Every manuscript submitted is not returned.

The copyright and the transfer right of the digital content of the published paper and journal is owned by the Korean Society of Emergency Medical Services.
